Although hanging acoustic panels in a home theater or listening room is not too difficult, it does require a little thought & planning. In this video, we show you two effective methods we use here at Audio Advice that are easy for the average DIYer. While this is one of the most common questions we get, the answer is something pretty hard to pin down. As we’ve heard from thousands of customers over the years, a well-designed home theater room will quickly become your favorite room in the house.
As you increase the riser height or the screen height, you’ll notice you have more clearance above the front row. Just remember, if your riser is where your main seats are and its 12”, this means the screen would be 30” to 36” off the screen wall PLUS the 12”. This is particularly true when you introduce multiple subwoofers, and is even harder if they happen to be different sizes. Correct subwoofer placement should result in bass that fills the room and sounds like it’s coming from the satellite speakers, as opposed to the subwoofer itself. However, by adding an additional fan you increase how much of the room is cooled. This is effectively the same logic behind having multiple subwoofers because you’re expanding the area of sound output.
Elevated Curved Rows
Be aware of any differences in power output, size, and frequency range. Just because you have a subwoofer in a home theater setup doesn't mean you're getting the bass impact you need or want. If you have a large or irregularly-shaped room, or you have acoustical problems, you may need more than one subwoofer. Meanwhile, you can also go for ready built-in risers and recliners with pre-built risers. Once the main stage is built add 2" x 10" boxes to each end of the stage and run another 2" x 10" at a 45 degree angle back to the main stage.
You’ve spent weeks or months researching the best home theater systems, everything from the best speakers to receivers for the ultimate big screen projection home theater you are planning to build. You want your room to hold a crowd of family and friends and really have not given much thought to how you will layout the seating. If you’ve planned a budget for your home theater renovation, it will usually work out cheaper to have recliners with built-in risers rather than buying pre-built risers. Therefore, if your home theater layout will have more than two rows, you may need to add a pre-built riser anyway. It is up to you whether you opt for a combination of built-in and pre-built riser if you’ll have additional rows, or opt for all pre-built risers for consistency. The back row consists of three recliners with armrests, and the front row has two single theater recliners on either side.
Later life and death
With a large front projection movie screen, we have found, having the bottom of it 30” to 36” up from the main viewing platform is normally a great spot. This is to the bottom of the actual image itself, not the screen frame. Well, nothing is worse than picking out all the bright gear, installing and calibrating it, and then finding out the front row of seats is blocking your view of the screen. Overall, adding a second subwoofer to your home theater is a good idea.
Several badly placed subwoofers will have a much greater impact on overall sound quality than a single badly placed one. When using 2 or more subwoofers in your home theater it’s impossible to understate the importance of correct placement. You need to find the right balance between subwoofer placement and your listening area.
Layout C
Various aspects like construction and the number of rows should be taken care of while deciding the height of the riser. Now it is time to load up your stage with speakers and add a screen and enjoy it. To add yet another layer of isolation, I took scraps, cut out small squares and used those to set the speakers on.
This tip is designed to help you perfectly focus your projector and is part of our Top 5 Tips For Improving Your Home Theater Video series. You can follow these steps using your projector’s pattern or we show you in this video. Make sure your projector has warmed up for at least 20 minutes before running this test. Imagine you are really getting into a great action movie, the spaceship lands, and all of a sudden, you hear this terrible buzzing or rattling sound coming from somewhere in your room.
This is an excellent layout if you don’t plan on building a riser due to the visibility of all recliners to the screen. A home theater riser is a raised platform for your theater seating, which is designed to offer you an unobstructed view of the screen. It essentially helps you create more than one elevated back row for home theatre seating. The ready-made home theater risers come in different sizes, while you can also build DIY risers based on your requirements. To achieve this look, you need to be able to elevate multiple rows of seats.

Because most speaker systems are designed for one subwoofer , adding another one can tip it off balance, resulting in overly heavy bass. Home theater risers can provide you with the best possible viewing experience. However, you need to know exactly where and how to add a home theater seating platform to get the most out of your investment. As encouraging as all this is, my guess—and it’s just a guess—is that this phenomena will continue to play out almost exclusively at the very top of the market.
If you have used good quality timber and are going to keep exposed wood flooring, you should at least use a varnish or another protective treatment before putting your home theater seating in place. Depending on the wider décor scheme of your home theater, you may also choose to paint the floor first. You can also have three loveseats in a row or two single seats set between two loveseats on either side.
In this way, Hesse attempted to work against Hitler's suppression of art and literature that protested Nazi ideology. Hesse's third wife was Jewish, and he had publicly expressed his opposition to anti-Semitism long before then. In the late 1930s, German journals stopped publishing Hesse's work, and the Nazis eventually banned it. To achieve this look, you will follow the same instructions as the above stadium seating option in terms of elevating your levels. But, instead of choosing individual seats, you can choose a set that will fit your entire room.
